As tourist numbers in many parts of the world continue to reach new heights, many smaller companies selling tours and various holiday packages have been having a difficult time staying afloat amid a multitude of competitors and the ease of self-booking everything online.
Tour operators Great Little Escapes and Jetline in the United Kingdom both shut down within a few weeks of each other in the summer of 2025, while New Era Travel in the country’s southeast also initiated liquidation proceedings in November.
Tango Travel in Iceland, MixxTravel in Sweden, and Unitravel in Hungary are some of the other travel agencies that did not survive 2025.
And most recently, Canadian travel agency Vegas Vacations was stripped of its license to operate on January 9. Multiple customers had reported it to regulators after paying for flight-hotel packages and finding that part or all of their bookings were invalid.
Regen Central shuts down after losing ATOL license
In the United Kingdom, the British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reports that Regen Central Ltd is the latest to shut down, Travel Gossip shared. On January 13, the agency lost its Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL), required for tour operators in the country.
Founded in 2011 in the Hertfordshire county of eastern England before relocating its headquarters to London, the travel agency also operated under brands including One Haji and Umrah and Oneworld Travels. It sold flight-hotel packages to Middle Eastern destinations such as Dubai and Saudi Arabia under some brands, and Italy, Bali, and Thailand under others.

The websites selling these tours were still up as of Jan. 15.
“Regen Central Ltd has ceased trading as an ATOL holder on 13 January 2026,” the CAA said in a statement. “The company based in London traded under the names One Haji and Umrah, Regen Travels, and Oneworld Travels and website(s) regentravels.com, oneworld-travels.com, and onehajjumrah.com.”
