Binance has announced that it has successfully recovered ninety percent of the funds lost in a staggering six point three billion dollar heist, marking one of the largest thefts in cryptocurrency history. While most users have been made whole, the company noted that the final ten percent consists of less liquid tokens that will take longer to acquire. Despite this delay, Co CEO Richard Teng assured customers that no individual user would suffer a financial loss from the breach, confirming that the exchange is committed to covering every cent through its internal reserves and insurance funds.

The fallout comes alongside a formal confirmation from the FBI that the attack was orchestrated by TraderTraitor, a hacking collective linked to North Korea’s notorious Lazarus Group. This state sponsored entity previously drew global attention for its retaliatory strike against Sony Pictures years ago. According to federal investigators, the hackers utilized sophisticated methods to convert their loot into Ethereum and attempted to scrub their tracks using decentralized finance tools and instant swap services to hide the digital trail.

Inside sources at Binance described the breach as an incredibly complex operation involving a compromised laptop and specialized malware designed to erase forensic evidence automatically. To stabilize the situation, Binance tapped into its one billion dollar Secure Asset Fund for Users along with corporate treasury holdings to replace the missing assets. The exchange had temporarily frozen all withdrawals following the discovery of the hack but expects service to return to normal by Sunday.

The news sent shockwaves through the broader crypto market, triggering immediate price drops for Bitcoin and Ethereum while Binance’s own BNB token plummeted nearly ten percent. Beyond the immediate financial volatility, security experts warn that this incident highlights a dangerous trend where sanctioned regimes leverage advanced cyber warfare and potentially emerging AI capabilities to bypass international restrictions and fund their government operations via digital asset theft.
