Arizona’s craft beer scene reached a historic milestone this weekend as local brewers secured eight medals at the 2026 Great American Beer Festival in Denver. It marks one of the strongest performances for the state since its peak in 1998, signaling a powerful resurgence for the region’s beverage makers. Out of more than 7,000 entries from across North America, seven different Arizona breweries managed to climb onto the podium during an outdoor ceremony held at Levitt Pavilion.

Phoenix based Wren House Brewing Co. emerged as a standout performer, capturing two gold medals for its traditional Festbier and a whiskey barrel aged Marzen. Not to be outdone in creativity, Goodyear’s Saddle Mountain Brewing Co. took home gold for its daring dill pickle sour, while Fate Brewing Co. added another trophy to its cabinet with a bronze medal for its Pueblo Vienna Lager. These wins highlight the diversity of the state’s output, ranging from strictly traditional styles to avant garde experiments.

The success extended beyond the Valley, with Tucson’s Barrio Brewing Co. securing bronze for Nolan’s Porter and Corbett Brewing Co. taking silver for its smoked Cypress Pilsner. Up north in Kingman, Rickety Cricket Brewing earned silver honors for its barrel aged barley wine. Meanwhile, Gilbert’s 12 West Brewing Co. rounded out the haul with a bronze medal for its contemporary American lager known as Zona.

Competition director Chris Williams noted that this year’s entries reflected an incredible leap in overall quality across the industry, making every single award highly contested. For Arizona, this sweep serves as a triumphant return to form following a quiet period in previous years. With several breweries continuing to innovate and push boundaries, the desert appears to be cementing itself as a heavyweight contender on the national stage of craft brewing.
